The word from the white house is that Obama is set to announce the closure of Guantanamo Bay today.
Our Campaign has been successful so far our petion is working, lets now go on to the next demands, lets sign the petion once more,
This is what we have to do,
2)Advocate for the ban of toture and ill treatment as defined under international law.
3)Advocate for investigation of abuse in the “US led war on terror”

DUncan: Perhaps it was not your intention, Duncan, but when you said
”Our Campaign has been successful so far our petion is working, lets now go on to the next demands, lets sign the petion once more”.. that statement clearly means that you feel you were the impetus in Obama deciding to close Gitmo, which it was not.
As for comparing Muslim prisons to U.S. prisons, one would think that a religious prison, especially a religion that claims it is a religion of peace, would be MORE charitable than a secular prison. And why shouldn’t I compare.. we’re all supposedly civilized. Why should one be held to a higher standard.
And as for linking Muslims to terrorism, unfortunately though obviously not ALL Muslims are terrorists, and I have never claimed that, MOST terrorist (these days) ARE Muslims. It’s the truth, and I refuse to pussyfoot around the issue.
You need to open your eyes brother.
If you read any of my other posts you will know that I believe that everyone has the right to worship as they please. I have a problem with ANY religion that wants to dominate the world.

Well, can you tell me where the Christian terrorists are? At least, those people who kill in the name of GOD? because you have to admit, Islamic terrorists always kill in the name of Allah.. hence.. the Allah AqBar cry before they die. There have been terorists in the past like the Irish IRA, and ETA in Spain, but their agenda was political not religious.

Amnesty International did know about Obama’s ”intent” to close gitmo, but actually the petition is about 3 different issues: Gitmo, ban torture but to ALSO ask for an independent investigation into the last 8 years of abuses in the US-led war on terror.
I believe one individual felt that it was just a petition, but actually Amnesty international was the first human rights organization to call for gitmo’s closure and as such, we had a responsibility to our supporters to launch a final push to advocate for its closure in a responsible manner. in fact, both presidential candidates had indicated that they would close guantanamo, but until its actually done, Amnesty International is not going to falter in our commitment to our supporters.
Secondly, petition’s do work, and Amnesty International can point to many examples in our 50 year history. But more importantly, its not one petition that works, its our overall campaign that we’ve worked on for many many years that got us to the point of international solidarity that then put pressure on the 2 presidential candidates to make commitments prior to the election to close guantanamo

Hello Duncan, Time will tell if its a failure, but I think the whole Gitmo situation is a big mistake and I am writing a post as to why, so you might want to check it out when it’s done.
I think closing Gitmo is sending a message to terrorists that Obama is soft on terror. You can’t reason with terrorists Duncan. They have a very different mindset from you and me. They have no conscience. They have no trouble strapping a bomb onto their bodies or the bodies of their own children to kill innocent people. even their own fellow muslims. so I don’t think diplomacy will work with them. the extremist faction also wants Islam to dominate the world, and jihad is their way of accomplishing that.
Even Joe Biden (Obama’s VP) said he believed we would be tested. There are people who deny there is a war on terror, or that it’s blown out of proportion, but being in denial about it won’t make it go away. They are patient, but there will be more Mumbais and 7/7s and spains and balis and 9/11s . Sadly.

terrorism, let us not invade a sovereign state in the name of fighting
nuclear advancements just because we want to settle past grudges,we
should fight terrorism without inflicting terror in society.

I hate to tell you this Duncan, but Obama had claimed he would shut down Gitmo prior to your little petition. We will see if he actually does so. Petitions make us feel good but they do nothing. And do you think he’s so weak that he would listen to what people in other countries tell him to do?
I have a question for you... do you support terrorism? Because it sure sounds like you do.
How about a petition to all terrorists and insurgents asking THEM to stop bombing people. How about a petition asking parents to stop encouraging their kids to be suicide bombers. That’s a petition I would sign.

Sister, actually, Duncan..
As I mentioned, Obama had always planned on closing down Gitmo. I guarantee you the petition had nothing to do with it..

Am sorry my brother but this petition did not start from us,and as much as
you rubish the impact of the petition, they usually send a message,if they
wont address the problem, they will inform those who didn’t know about the
problem so in whichever way the petitions stand to be useful, what you should
understand is that this petition is a product of Amnesty International,it
isn’t my product or my countries am concerned because am a citizen of the
world that is why i support the petition, there is no time that i have
supported terrorist activities, the fact that am airing what the muslims here
feel is not being a terrorist ally, and if by my airing this muslims’
reaction to Obama’s stand you can accuse me of supporting terror, then i
wonder which principles you stand in.

If you want to compare a US prison with ”muslim prisons” as you put it
then am sorry, the US is supposed to exemplary services,I never at any time
emphasized that the Gitmo issue was solved due to our petiton, what my point
was is that as a people who wanted Gitmo closed,it was closed that is what
is important, let me remind you my sister,Islam is not terrorism, stop
linking Muslims to terror, the way you say ”muslim prisons” only shows that
you are off topic.Iam a christian and i stand for christian values that
alone does not make me ignore other religions!
My point is clear, please try to check your line of argument,Gitmo was
misused and that is the truth,as much as the US had good interests,it was
also overstepping its mandate and misusing its powers under the previous
regime.
It is sometimes good to accept our failures if we are to become better
people.

You stated that there are no christian terrorist groups. You needs to realize the situation in northern Ireland. Protestants fight with catholics all the time. They have terrorists on both sides who bomb schools and kill people in their beds. but Americans think it’s just the IRA against the British, but it’s not.
Is bombing terrorism only when we have a muslim involved or what would you call such.

I stick up for no one,i just take the right decision and this do one
at a time, when am saying ’let us judge others according to what the
law says’ i don’t mean am being soft to the criminal deed’ am only
saying that we should be decent, let as not break someone’s neck
without enough prosecution evidence in the name of fighting
terrorism, let us not invade a sovereign state in the name of fighting
nuclear advancements just because we want to settle past grudges,we
should fight terrorism without inflicting terror in society.

I have a question for you... do you support terrorism? Because it sure sounds like you do.
How about a petition to all terrorists and insurgents asking THEM to stop bombing people. How about a petition asking parents to stop encouraging their kids to be suicide bombers. That’s a petition I would sign.
