It is very unfortunate that the teachers will go on suffering like this. I don’t understand why other civil servants will have salary increments without striking while the most important servants are overlooked. If there was no teacher, Minister of Education Prof. Ongeri would never have been a professor. If it was not a teacher, Kibaki would never have been an economist even the genius in Raila is contributed to by some teacher and yet they are overlooked.
Teachers are the ones who breed these leaders who are not sensitive to their suffering, I wonder why our MPS are not fighting for the teachers the way they usually fight for their perks, it is very sad mostly when a number of them actually were teachers before going to parliament yet they don’t fight for their flock.

It is highest time the Government appreciated the input of teachers in society. I don’t know why an idle Member of parliament should be getting Ksh.800,000 monthly tax free while the very tasked teachers get to as less as a mere Kshs.7000 which is fully taxed.(if it was vice-versa maybe we would have understood why) but as it is now, teachers need even a 500% salary increase.
And who said that the government has no money? When the Members of Parliament raise their salaries, they don’t consider whether there is enough money to cater for that budget, but when teachers want an increment, it always dawns on them that their is no money to pay the teachers.
I wonder why Teachers must be slaves in a society they mould with dedication.
I pray that the government will come to its senses and help solve this problem so that these honorable citizens can go back to school to nurture more leaders of tomorrow.
