Hi Duncan,

For what purposes do you find Mutahi Ngunyi not credible? As a political scientist or as a supporter of the Prime Minister?

Many professionals in the country are today actively playing advisory and strategist roles for different political players. Usually for a handsome fee. I guess it is their right and I doubt if it diminishes their professional abilities even if they take positions opposed to our own. It is really up to the target consumers of their ’propaganda’ to accept it or not.

It is not even necessary that their opinion be popular. In my view, the controversy that Mutahi provokes is in fact good, if only to prevent the stunting of our thought processes and stir us from complacency. His engagements are many times just plain philosophy that helps diversify viewpoints.

And anyway, the Prime Minister too has his retinue of professors to give his political moves some intellectual garb.

Hi Duncan!

A can almost imagine how angered you were when you wrote this article. But as Harun said we need someone to stir us from complacency, all of us can appreciate what our Prime Minister is doing and with no doubt we reckon the fervor he has potrayed in executing his duties and so do Mutahi Ngungi i presume, but do not forget what our politicians are. Mutahi is only trying to deliver a message to Kenyans however controversial it might be. Regardless of our political views we have to be open minded.

I think Johnstone has a point,Mutahi is currently talking about everyone but the center point will always zero in on one thing,;is allegiance to kibaki.Even when he talks of kibaki he always wants to sound he is a man without bias.

Sure, but isn’t bias what gives one a ’point of view’? Being pro-Kibaki (or pro-Raila)cannot be a measure credibility, scholarly or otherwise.

One should be able to counter his views, biased as they may be, without seeking to rubbish the man. Like him or not, let us admit that he is quite an informed, eloquent and persuasive protagonist.

Take any of his pieces and counter it point by point. If you can. That would be a spectacular and more worthy way to bring him down.

But Harun you are forgetting one thing,if you are just a common man like we are me you and Duncan,we won’t achieve much in our criticism as Mutahi would simply because he has the head start,take for example he has a space in the daily newspaper,he has money and most of it came from connections to statehouse,he knows powerful people in the govt,how can me and you fight such a man?even if he is misleading Kenyans?

Am sure if you,me and Duncan were given a column in one of the National newspapers we would have tried to prove our points but now,no,we are just like a hen that curses the crow.

I disagree Johnstone. I do not think that Mutahi’s work is published because he has money and connections. On the contrary, he got the money and connections after displaying his prowess.

Rebuttals from ordinary citizens have been published before and I think the only hurdle is quality of content. Of course editors have final discretion but generally, a good piece would not be rejected on account of ’connections’.

Have you tried submitting or is yours just fear of rejection? What about the online editions? How about taking on Mutahi right here on Instablogs? The readership is even wider! You and I need not wait for the Nation to ’give’ us a column. We might as well wait for grass to cover the Kalahari.

And you never know,Grass might indeed cover the kalahari,Harun has a point Johnstone,instablogs is still a good place for this checks,that is why i choose to present my case against Mutahi here because as much as i have tried with letters for the local papers,nothing has ever been forthcoming,but again Harun i defer with you,For instance when the issue of finances comes in, Mutahi has an advantage over us that is why we shall use instablogs and it might not reach the a larger of the Kenyan population for comment,but he has that,he has the Kenyan audience to a greater extend than we do here.

Today i read an article Where mutahi said that PNU and ODM won’t be there in 2012,to me his reasons are not convincing,why is he afraid of just saying that PNU is the subject of his article because we all know that ODM can go to the 2012 elections unlike PNU that has already started disintergrating?

Harun don’t you think am right?Mutahi always wants to hide behind the back of ODM when he wants to comment on matters affecting his people.
